48 Month BSE Testing Proposed For EU Member States

December 13th, 2008

Come next year and the EU states will probably adopt a new BSE stipulation for cattle that are slaughtered. The move is to increase the testing age for slaughtered cattle from the existing 30 months to 48 months. The board that is looking after this has stated that surveillance of this kind is very essential and the testing itself is safe for human health.

The proposal is up for review and it looks like with all the member states as well as the UK in agreement, it should be implemented quite soon.
