Arla to Buy FriesLand Foods Fresh Nijkerk

April 1st, 2009

In the Netherlands, Arla Foods is going to be buying up all the shares in FriesLand Foods Fresh Nijkerk. This deal will include the company’s fresh dairy business including its brands of yoghurt. Their Friesche Vlag brand will be used only in the Netherlands and they have signed a ten year agreement on that. Though they are still awaiting approval by the European Commission, it looks as though things will be up and running in the new mode from the next quarter.

The brands go from fruit flavoured yoghurt to buttermilk to natural as well as quark yoghurt to porridge and custard. The Friesche Vlag brand is also used for many dairy products and they make brands for some supermarkets. It looks like it is setting itself up for a great run in Europe.
