Copenhagen Researcher Wins International Dairy Award
The 2008 International Dairy Award has been given to the Copenhagen-based researcher, Professor Ylva Ardö from the Faculty of Life Sciences. She has been contributing to dairy science with her research for a number of years and this award comes deservedly.
The award goes to her for developing a new method of preserving milk samples. It is done by using bronopol and his is ideal for laboratory samples and testing because it does not harm health in any way. It was she who first introduced a new semi-hard low fat cheese with just 10% fat and which was the recipient of many awards.
She’s been part of the faculty at the University of Copenhagen for five years and she also won the Best Cheese Scientist Worldwide Award in Bern recently.
