It’s a booming market for probiotics in South America and Danisco is right there, promoting its probiotic products. The probiotic cultures seem to be used for so many products from cheese to yogurt to infant products. There seems to be a great new surge in health and wellness products, even as the awareness to keep fit percolates to every level of society. Considering that just the probiotic yogurt market in South America has see a spurt of 32% in the two years from 2005 to 2007 and that it has grown to become 30% of the total yogurt market there, it is admirable indeed.

Some of the companies that are using probiotic products from Danisco are Batavo from Brazil, Santa Clara, also from Brazil which manufactured the first probiotic cheese, Colun from Chile and Alpina from Columbia. The baby food market too, has grown, with probiotic products being very popular.
