Danone’s Claim Approved By EFSA

January 31st, 2009

The EFSA or the European Food Safety Authority has approved a health claim submitted by Danone Spain regarding children’s health. The claim was that Calcium and Vitamin D are essential for children’s growing bones and that dairy products contributed to this.

EFSA said that children’s health had been monitored and it had been demonstrated that these two were very important nutrients for children’s bone health especially during the growing years. This is a very important step for dairy and dairy products because along with a whole host of other health claims that have been submitted and approved, this too will go towards forming legislation next year.
