DFOB Collapse

June 28th, 2009

What’s in store for the dairy farmers of the UK? The third largest dairy farmers’ co-operative has collapsed and there are many of them who cannot seem to find new markets or new buyers. Does this mean that their dairy business would just have to fold up? The very small subsidy they get from PriceWaterhouseCoopers is just not enough to keep them going.

So is it the decline in the British dairy industry that’s to blame or is ot increasing competition? Maybe it’s a bit of both but whatever it is, there are so many dairy farmers’ livelihoods at stake there.
