First Milk Goes The Green Whey
First Milk which supplies the highest amount of whey ingredients in the UK is all set to go green thanks to a grant by the Welsh government. Whey is known to be one of the biggest pollutants of the environment and the upgrading of this facility to make it environment friendly took all of £3m.
Besides reducing the carbon dioxide emission levels, it also means considerable savings in power consumption. The upgrading which began last year is all completed, absolutely on time. The products include lactose, sweet whey and whey lactose concentrates and they go out to a whole lot of manufacturers of ready to eat meals, infant foods and confectionery.
