In China, the milk tainted with melamine has been responsible for 13,000 children being hospitalised. Naturally, the repercussions are being felt all over the world because Chinese milk products today find themselves all over the globe. Some of the bigwigs associated with China’s milk industry have resigned, others have been sacked. It looks like there will be many more going down that same road in the years to come.
Meanwhile, globally, people were taking off Chinese milk products from their shop shelves before a catastrophe hit them. The melamine was added to increase the protein content in milk. One recalls that a scandal of a similar nature had hit the pet food Chinese exports in the recent past.
