Probiotics For Better Brain Functioning?

March 11th, 2009

According to the pioneer of the probiotics revolution, Yakult, research seems to indicate that the nervous systems of both the brain and the gut function better with probiotics. This would be of special interest to those over 50 where probiotics could be beneficial in many areas including that of weight management. Research is on as to which strains would be suitable for what benefits.

One of the main emerging factors seems to be that gut health can spread its benefits to other areas of the body. Maybe that is why the gut used to be called the ‘small brain’ from a neurological point of view.
