Your Blood Pressure Is Your Health Barometer

Hypertension or high blood pressure has been responsible for so many ailments and what is really depressing is that a third of all people in the world suffer from this condition. It could lead to strokes, cardiac attacks or kidney failure. So it is extremely important to try and get the levels down to healthy ones if you need to stay fit. A great deal depends on what your diet is like. If you were to follow a healthy diet, in all probability your blood pressure levels are going to be at normal levels.

Time was when the normal blood pressure readings were taken to be 120/80. Today, more and more physicians are recommending a 110/70 reading for peak fitness levels. Studies have shown that many high blood pressure sufferers have low calcium levels and milk and dairy products can supplement this deficiency naturally. Hypertension patients have improved a great deal when they have been calcium deficient and their diets have been enriched with dairy products. There have to necessarily be lifestyle changes as well like including more fruits and vegetables in your diet, cutting back drastically on salt and being extremely rigid about the amount of fat you consume, with a big no-no where trans fats are concerned.
